01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Light baked doughnuts and shaved ice that melts softly on the tongue: Manten Donuts offers two welcome treats for a pause during a stroll. The doughnuts are baked rather than fried, with flavours including plain, maple, cinnamon, matcha and cocoa. One customer who took a maple doughnut to go found it light and fluffy, unlike a fried doughnut. Choose plain, or pick maple or cinnamon when you fancy a little extra flavour.

Some people visit for the shaved ice as much as for the doughnuts. Customers have remarked on the fluffy texture and delicate melt of the ice, made by freezing milk and condensed milk; others have enjoyed flavours such as kuromitsu kinako and strawberry milk. You could have shaved ice in the shop and take doughnuts away, or settle in with a doughnut and coffee instead.

The doughnuts are individually wrapped, making them easy to take along as a snack or give as a small gift. There is also space to eat in, so it’s a handy spot to stop for something sweet during a walk around Yanaka.
